DataViews: Data Extraction Made Easy

DVSpreadsheetProfund designed DataViews to add powerful functionality to its software by allowing users to extract data directly into other applications.  DataViews acts as a plug-in to Microsoft Excel and injects pension data directly in to new or existing spreadsheets.

DataViews takes advantages of ActiveX controls and OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) to pull data out of the Profund database and import it into other software packages, such as the Microsoft Office suite. Using a standard Excel spreadsheet or Access database, users can run complex data analysis procedures and generate pension analysis reports.

Software Interaction
Users can export data from Profund software to take advantage of the data manipulation functionality of Microsoft Excel or the presentation and formatting functionality of Microsoft Word.  Excel can use Profund data to produce various charts, graphs, and subtotals, while Word can use Profund data to produce professional letters, benefit statements, and calculation worksheets with a wide range of fonts, formatting, and graphical capabilities.

Streamlined Data Extraction
Profund recognizes that it is often necessary to extract data from our pension systems in order to present it in a format more suitable for a required task.  For example, actuaries, trustees, and insurance companies often require reports in a format that can be manipulated by third party software products.  DataViews provides for a quick, convenient, and powerful way to export Profund data into other pieces of software through an intuitive interface and simple design.

A Rigid Stance of Total Flexibility
Getting your pension data into Microsoft Excel and Word is the primary function of DataViews, however, it can be used in conjunction with any Windows application that supports ActiveX controls.  Profund can either configure this integration on a project basis or clients can write their own Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code to link to other applications on their own.

Extensive training is available for DataViews programming, integration, and extraction techniques.

Components of the DataViews Application
DVLauncher

When working with DataViews, all functions are accessed through the DataViews Launcher and Toolbar.  The Launcher provides a quick interface for selecting from multiple databases and creating or copying DataViews.  Once a database is opened, the Toolbar opens functions to create selection criteria, enable filters, and populate entire data sets by the click of a single button.
